Our Mission

The Mission of Kids Chance of Nebraska is to provide financial support to further the education of the children of Nebraska workers who have been severely injured, totally disabled or killed as a result of employment related injuries or occupational diseases. It is the goal of Kids’ Chance of Nebraska to make a difference in the lives of these children by providing scholarships to help eligible students achieve both their educational goals and their families’ dreams.

Fulfilling Educational Dreams

Kids’ Chance of Nebraska started out as a conversation between two longtime friends on opposite sides of the court. Both respected and well versed in their profession, Rod Rehm and Dallas Jones set about contacting Kids’ Chance of America and creating a board that began meeting in August of 2013. The board consists of stakeholders involved in the workers’ compensation industry. These stakeholders include representatives from organized labor, the business community, plaintiff and defense attorneys, medical providers, carriers, brokers, vocational rehabilitation, claims and case management.

The Inspirational Journey of Kids’ Chance

The Kids’ Chance organization was founded in 1988 by Robert Clyatt, a workers’ compensation attorney from Georgia. Mr. Clyatt saw firsthand the devastating impact that severe workplace injuries had on children and their families.

With the assistance of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Georgia Bar, Mr. Clyatt incorporated Kids’ Chance of Georgia and started educational scholarship fund raising for the children of injured Georgia workers.

The Georgia Kids’ Chance started reaching out to other states and supported them in establishing their own states Kids’ Chance organizations. Over 35 states have organized Kids’ Chance programs.
